Summer Reading, June 1 – August 12
All ages are invited to participate in our summer reading program and earn prizes as you read through the summer. Sign-up online or at the Service Center beginning Friday, June 1. We’ll have beginning, midway, finishing, and grand prizes. Second chance logs will be back for our prolific readers.

Also, join us for a book scavenger hunt around the Cary area on eight Saturdays, June 9-30 and July 7-28. Each Saturday we’ll give you clues on our social media as to where to find the bag, so be sure to follow us on one or all platforms (InstagramTwitter, and Facebook). The first clue will be posted at noon, the second clue at 1 pm, and the third clue at 2 pm. The first one to find the bag gets to keep it and once found, post a photo and tag us on social media so other “hunters” can be alerted that the bag has been found. Good luck to all!

My Illinois Photo Contest
To celebrate the Illinois bi-centennial, we are hosting a family-friendly photo contest open to CAPL cardholders ages 13 and up. Photos must have been taken in Illinois (at any time) and there is one entry per person. Photos must be 8 x 10 and may be in color or black and white. Submissions are due by Sunday, September 30, 2018. Photos will be displayed in the Library throughout the months of October and November. The winner will be determined by popular vote and announced on December 3, 2018, the anniversary date of Illinois statehood. The winner will receive a $25 Visa gift card. Entry forms are available online and at the Service Center.

We’ve added more items to our non-traditional circulating collection:
Flip-Pal Photo Scanner
Rotary Multitool with various bits for wood-working and carving
Pair of binoculars, donated by the McHenry County Audubon Society

If you have old VHS tapes that you’d like to transfer to DVD, we now have transfer equipment available to use in the Library. The cart includes a VHS-C adapter and an instruction sheet to guide you (you supply the DVD). In order to use the equipment, you must reserve a Study Room (visit > Services > Book a Study Room).
