In-person voter registration at the Library is suspended from March 6-April 6.
Requirements for registration:
You must be a U.S. citizen, 17 years old on or before the date of the Primary Election and turn 18 on or before the date of the General Election, and you must live in your election precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day.
- If you’re unsure about your status, check to see if you are already registered to vote in Illinois
- Register in-person at the Library Service Center (see below for what ID to bring) or at the McHenry County Clerk’s office
- Register online through the Illinois State Board of ElectionsÂ
For in-person registration, please bring in two forms of ID in order to fill out the application, one of which must include your current address. Acceptable forms of ID include:
- Driver’s license
- IL state ID
- Social Security card
- Employee or student ID
- Credit card or checkbook
- Library card
- Insurance card
- Public Aid ID
- Selective Service card
- Civic, fraternal, union, or professional association membership card
- Utility bill
