The Cary Area Public Library stands with minority communities in support of ending systemic prejudice and injustice and supporting cultural diversity.
We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the community, no matter the color of their skin, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religious beliefs. We stand by the core guiding principle that the Library is for everyone.
We have taken steps and continue to examine how we can be better allies to all marginalized members of society:
- Feature works by diverse authors in our displays and communications
- Develop partnerships with local organizations to enrich our understanding of diversity and the needs of all in our community
- Update policies to reduce systemic barriers
- Performed a diversity audit of our collections, programs, and services
As the Library is a place for learning and accessing information, we have put together a list of resources for all ages that explore anti-racism.
