Loan Periods
Items borrowed from other libraries are subject to the owning libraries’ policies on loan periods and renewals.
- CAPL books, audiobooks, CDs, kids’ Wonderbooks, Yoto Players, and Kits (STEAM, Theme, and Memory Care): 3 weeks
- New and Hot Pick Adult Fiction books: 2 weeks
- Magazines, DVDs/Blu-rays, Videogames, Playaway Views, Playaway Launchpads, and Toniebox: 1 week
- Digital collection checkout times vary by service; most expire automatically, and some can be returned early. See borrowing times by service
- Library of Things items checkout for one week, and one renewal is available if no holds are pending (One exception: the sewing machine checks out for three weeks)
- Instant Book Club Bags: 6 weeks
Limits
By quantity
- Videogames, Wonderbooks, Playaway Views, and Theme Kits: 5 per card
- STEAM Kits: 3 per card
- Playaway Launchpads and Instant Book Club Bags: 2 per card
- Toniebox/Yoto Player and Memory Care Kits: 1 per card
By age
- Most items in the Library of Things collection and all our Playaway Launchpads, Tonieboxes, and Yoto Players only checkout to cardholders age 18+ due to safety concerns and/or replacement cost of the item.
Automatic Renewal
- Eligible items checked out on your account will automatically renew up to two times, two days before the due date. OR
- Items without pending holds will automaically renew up to two times, two days before the due date
- Hot Pick Adult Fiction and Instant Book Club Bags are not renewable
- You can always check due dates by logging into Your Account online or your account on the CAPL mobile app.
