Adult Program Coordinator (part-time year-round)

Do you like connecting people with experiences, knowledge, and their community? Do you possess excellent communication skills, and are able to create and manage a dynamic calendar?
The CAPL seeks an organized, creative, self-driven, and collaborative individual to serve as Adult Program Coordinator. This year-round part-time position would organize informative, inclusive, and fun performers, presentations, and programs to create an array of opportunities and experiences for our adult patrons. Other responsibilities include providing excellent customer service, assisting patrons with technical issues on computers and devices, and operating online calendar and reservation software.

Examples of Duties
- Develop and publicize programs and events for adult and/or multi-age participants
- Coordinate, schedule, host, and evaluate internal and external performers and presentations
- Establish connections and relationships with area organizations and businesses to broaden the range of programs offered by the Library
- Write and plan promotional material for events
- Participate in all special events and promotion committees to ensure programs are appropriate for the event
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to effectively negotiate with vendors, contractors, etc. to obtain the most cost-effective prices and contract terms for goods and services
- Ability to identify and translate the needs and interests of patrons into effective library services and programs
- Ability to keep records, operate a calendar, and prepare reports
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, LTA certificate/certification or equivalent in experience
- Knowledge of event programming and community relations
- Library experience preferred
Hours
Part-time; averages 22 hours a week. Availability to work days, evenings, and one weekend per month required. This position will require Wednesday evening availability.
Pay
$19.29 to $24 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Administrative Services Manager (full-time year-round)

The Cary Area Public Library is seeking someone who is passionate about helping the Library and its staff succeed to fill our Administrative Services Manager position. An ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, along with financial management experience. This is a central role within the Library that blends HR support, business and financial services, and responsibility for the maintenance, safety, and oversight of the Library’s facilities.
What you’ll do:
This role provides leadership for day-to-day financial and business operations, manages the annual audit process, and ensures compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. It also oversees all human resources activities, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance processes, and employee benefits. The position further directs the maintenance, safety, and security of the facility.

What we’re looking for:
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, office management, human resource management, or accounting.
- Three (3) years of experience in a business office setting performing human relations, accounting and similar functions.
- Two (2) years of leadership experience.
Key Competencies
- Excel, Google Suite, and Quickbooks Online
- Accounting and payroll principles and practices.
- Knowledge of human resources skills including payroll, benefits, administrative functions, and knowledge of federal and state laws relating to employment.
Availability
The preferred schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 am-4 pm along with attendance at Library Board meetings. Availability on nights and weekends is required.
Compensation
Salary: $53,526 to $66,908, depending on qualifications
Benefits include health insurance, vision, and dental, as well as paid leave. CAPL is an IMRF Library.
