New library catalog coming soon

5/19/26 – The online catalog has been updated to the new interface. Read through our Your Account webpage for guidance on setting up your account and other basic information, including some quick video tutorials. If you need further assistance, staff at the Service Center and Tech Desk can help in person or by phone (847-639-4210, press 0). We’re also hosting a drop-in event on Tuesday, June 9 from 6-8 pm to answer your new catalog questions.


4/20/26 – We’re excited to announce that we are getting a new catalog! You can preview and test the new catalog through a link on our current catalog.

Then, in mid-May, the permanent switch will happen, and you’ll be able to enjoy a range of improved features, including:

  • A modern, accessible, and mobile-friendly interface with powerful search capabilities
  • Different formats (book, large type book, ebook, etc.) for the same title will be grouped together in the search results
  • Community features like ratings, reviews, and shelves (which all default to private but can be shared publicly)

Some things to note about the switch:

  • Your current reading history will transfer, but you must enable the Borrowing History setting in your account in the new catalog to see the history
  • You may need to create a new username if it’s already in use, but your password will remain the same unless you change it in the new catalog. If you’ve never changed your password, it should be the last four digits of the phone number you supplied when you signed up for a card
  • You may change your username once you’re logged into the new catalog under the My Settings section. This may be important to you if you want to post ratings, reviews, and your shelves publicly
  • The catalog search on our CAPL app will not be affected by this switch
